My 2024

I made little progress this year. My enthusiasm was spent, my body worn down, and a wretched “industry” left me almost no time for a year to record what I saw and heard.

In Such a Hurry, With No Time for Anything Else

I will not name the industry. One can infer the whole from a part: under the current employment winter, things are probably much the same everywhere.

This year brought many trivial affairs. The news offered little that ordinary people would be glad to hear, apart from three recurring themes:

  • Privilege running rampant
  • Economic decline
  • Public resentment boiling over

Privilege means every group that rides on the people’s heads and abuses its power, along with those who borrow its authority and collude with it.

Such people pull the reins, urging the horse to go faster, while also tightening the reins around its neck. One day the horse can bear no more; the wild horse breaks loose, throws its “master rider” to the ground, and kicks wildly…

The economy is a fig leaf: when it rises, it blinds everyone; when it falls, it can no longer cover anything, and every problem is exposed.

People say development’s problems should be solved through development. I see everyone pocketing money happily while times were good, with no intention of solving anything; now that things are declining, they search every crack for private gain.

The ship is about to sink, yet the captain leads the crew in tearing up planks so he can gain an advantage after falling into the water. He does not know that one wave will turn that tiny advantage into dust.

I will say no more about public resentment. The news grows more absurd, the attack dogs of privilege commit notorious acts, and the harm continues to escalate…

Alas! A new hope is being kindled in our hearts. A single spark can start a prairie fire!

Sir, Do Not Cross the River—Yet You Crossed It!

Looking back, I had thought about leaving for a long time, hesitating without knowing what I was so worried about. There was always an excuse with which to numb myself.

May I never—cross the river and die. What could anyone do for me then?

Vast and Surging

Life is so lovely. Going to work, laboring, and earning money are all meant to make it better. Work is only the process; do not lose sight of the purpose.

How could I bend my brows and bow my waist to serve the powerful, when it would rob me of my joy?

May everyone discover the purpose of life amid the vast, surging age, the sea of people, and the tide of the people, and realize the meaning of their lives. Let us encourage one another.
